Editorial policy and corrections

How Relocate in Europe chooses its sources, keeps its guides current, stays independent of the partners who pay for their pages – and what happens when we get something wrong.

Official sources only

Every figure, fee, deadline and rule in our guides comes from an official source: a government agency, a statistics office, a central bank, a court or the law itself. Each guide ends with the list of the official pages it was built on, with the date they were read. We do not use forums, relocation companies, law firms, news media or encyclopaedias as sources of fact.

Dated and checked every week

Every page shows the date it was last updated. Rules are checked every Monday against the sources named on the page; when something has changed, the guide is updated and the date moves. Proposals, bills and consultations are described as such, never as law.

How we work

Research and drafting are supported by automated tools; every figure is checked against the official source it cites before publication, and the editorial team is responsible for what is published. News items are signed “The editorial team”. The weekly analysis and column carry an editorial byline.

Independence

Partners pay for their pages. They do not influence our guides, and no guide, ranking or figure is changed for a partner. Partner content is labelled, kept in its own section and never mixed into editorial text. Payment never means “recommended” or “verified”. We do not accept payment for coverage, and we do not publish sponsored articles.

What we do not do

• We do not rank cities or countries by crime, and we do not call places safe or dangerous; we publish the official figure and how to read it.
• We do not give individual legal, tax or immigration advice.
• We do not write about party politics or named politicians.
• We do not invent a figure to fill a gap; where an official figure is not published, the page says so.

Corrections

If you think something on a page is wrong or out of date, write to editor@relocateineurope.com with the page and what you believe is correct, ideally with the official source. We check every report against the source. When a page is corrected, the correction is made in the text, the “Last updated” date changes, and material corrections are noted at the end of the page with the date. We aim to answer within a few working days.

Photographs

Photographs show everyday life in the places we write about, not tourist sights. They are licensed from Adobe Stock or are our own illustrations, and each carries a credit. People in the photographs are models or illustrative; they are not the people in the text.
