How to read the figures
- Population is the latest official figure from INE, the National Statistics Institute.
- The crime rate is: criminal offences recorded per 1,000 residents, 2025, provisional, from the Ministry of the Interior (Balance de Criminalidad). National rate: Spain 50.4.
- The Ministry publishes counts, not municipal rates; the rate divides the 2025 count (including cybercrime) by the official population. 2025 figures are provisional, and local police data are included only where they are supplied.
- Compare cities within Spain only: every country defines and records crime differently.
- The figure is not your personal risk: offences are counted where they happen, so city centres with many commuters and visitors record higher rates.
